Scott was a key producer for national coverage of violent clashes in Ferguson, MO, the Christmas Day underwear bomber near Detroit, the West Virginia coal mine disaster, plus the rescue of Iraq POW Jessica Lynch, the crash of United Flight 93 in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, the Susan Smith murder case, the Oklahoma City bombing and the O.J Simpson murder case.

Scott's interest in automotive journalism has allowed him to visit some of the world's top auto shows, from Shanghai to Frankfurt to Detroit.  He continues to review the world automakers' latest models regularly.

Scott has a rich and varied history as a journalist, beginning with his first job as a reporter for The Detroit News. After transitioning to television, Newell anchored and reported in Denver and Atlanta before filling the same role in Cleveland.

Newell spent five years as senior field producer for the nationally-syndicated program "A Current Affair." He helped debunk one of the long-standing conspiracy theories about the assassination of President John Kennedy involving three tramps in Dealey Plaza who were arrested on November 22, 1963.

His journalism career has put him face-to-face with a wide range of politicians, including 9 US Presidents and allowed him to climb into the cockpit of jets flown by the Blue Angels and Thunderbirds.

Scott has also worked on several dramatic works in film and television, including Orion Pictures' "Sharky's Machine," NBC's "Another World" as well as television commercials for a variety of national clients.
